Update: Kevan Huston added some comments as clarification and I wanted to put them front and center here for those curious as to some of the more technical aspects of the MSLibrary SharePoint implementation. Thanks Kevan!
"Hi everyone- I just want to follow-up with a little info. The FTP downloads don’t actually go into the SharePoint part of our server; it goes into a separate folders area. We can connect to our legacy LOB application (our OPAC) using the SharePoint BDC (Business Data Catalog) feature and get that content into our site so we can use it in a variety of ways including search - and feeding it onto pages across the site. The other small point to clarify is that our "Info Desk" product that Kendra discussed is more accurately described as a pages library and not a list. A list is just the metadata but a pages library has a page associated with each entry. Thanks very much, please let Mike know if you've any questions! Kevan"
In this TechReady 8 Michael on the Go special Kendra Smith and Kevan Huston discuss how MSLibrary built a world class virtual library platform using Microsoft Office SharePoint Server.
