Before Deleting The MySite Link From Peoples Pages…. Read This!

A number of organizations I have worked with since they are implementing SharePoint for the first time are looking to not roll out the MySite site functionality for phase 1 but looking instead to get in their base site infrastructure and then roll out MySites at a later date. Well when eliminating user access to MySite there are some definite do's and don'ts to follow. The Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies Team Blog has a great posting on this titled "Be wary when removing or replacing the My Site link". From the article "I've seen a recent trend where people are either removing or replacing the My Site link that's at the top of the page. Before doing this be sure that it is necessary because that link isn't really a link at all it's a server control; with functionality behind it…."

Check out the article here.
