New Site “Resources for Interoperability with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007” Now Live

Microsoft has just launched a 1.0 version of the new interoperability site for SharePoint. Put together by Microsofties Todd Ravenholt and Mike Fitzmaurice the helps answer such questions as how to connect MOSS 2007 to ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle Financials, or Siebel? How do you setup SharePoint Search to crawl Lotus Notes data sources? Just what are WSRP and iViews?

The primary scenarios of interoperability they tackle on this site are:

  • Integration with Business Solutions, enabling rich access and presentation of data managed in other systems.
  • Enterprise Search, for indexing and full-text search on all business data (entity instances) from databases and back-end server applications such as SAP, Siebel and Lotus Notes applications.
  • Composite applications, business dashboards and mashups, where a new business capability is created by assembling multiple existing software assets: web services, APIs, web feeds (e.g. RSS or Atom), gadgets, and screen scraping. where content is sourced from APIs, Web feeds (e.g. RSS or Atom), gadgets, web services and screen scraping.
