Webcast Today! Twitter TwitThis, And NCAA March Madness

Two quick announcements/reminders I wanted to get out there before I am immersed in a full morning of internal planning meetings.

First, today is the day! Yes I know, I keep acting all excited about today's presentation because… well I am! I was very excited when Microsoft acquired FAST search a while back and even more excited when we announced its inclusion within SharePoint Enterprise as FAST ESP for SharePoint. I have been getting a lot of questions around it but today's speaker is not only a personal friend but someone who has been diving deep in to this subject since the acquisition and I am looking forward to learning some more myself. With that please plan on attending today's SharePoint Weekly Webcast series presentation on FAST ESP for SharePoint. It will be at 1:30pm eastern time. You can get the LiveMeeting login information as well as iCal download here SharePoint Weekly Webcast: FAST ESP For SharePoint   This session has been cancelled! You can use the log in information to attend a replacement session with me. See Todays Webcast Cancelled Due to Speaker Emergency. Will Have Open Mic With Mikey Webcast As Replacement   for more details.

Tweet tweet tweet! No I am not turning in to a bird brain…. although for some reason typing that just set off a chorus of the old Jackson Five singing Rockin Robin. smile_wink You will notice if you click on any of my posts now there is a TwitThis button present. I just read yesterday that a study was completed of the fastest growing social sites and Twitter was by far the fastest growing year over year at more than 1,200 percent growth from 2008 to 2009. That is incredible. Now granted a lot of folks still just don't get it… trust me I get blank stares all over when I talk about actively engaging with your audience customer base and that includes many folks I work with. Even amongst those that do jump on there is still a to a large degree a combination of voyeur/consumer of posts and pure marketing mindset that is rampant. Both of these approaches are not necessarily wrong and when balanced with active interaction can provide a well rounded Twitter presence (I think I feel the need for a video coming on around this) but…. the use of Twitter to as a conversation starter and above all social connections entity is in full bore and more and more people are getting it and using it. So anywhoooo…I have added TwitThis so that if you do find something I post thought provoking, conversation worthy, or even in need of serious lampooning/decrying, then you can easily Twit it to the rapidly expanding Twitterverse.

Well I need to get hopping on some meeting prep but before I do I have one last thing that really is important to take note of, far more important than any techno announcements. March Madness has begun here in the USA which means men's and women's basketball NCAA tourney time. As I awoke this morning it was reassuring to know that all was right with the universe as last evening the University of Connecticut (my home state) UCONN Huskies crushed Chattanooga 103-47 in men’s play. Ahhh, now that we can all breathe easy have a great day, see you at 1:30 for the SharePoint Weekly Webcast: FAST ESP For SharePoint, and don’t forget to help someone else get the point today…. SharePoint that is smile_wink Have a great day!
