October 2008 CU is the new "baseline" for WSS/MOSS
If you're trying to figure out how to start fresh WSSv3/MOSS2007 deployments off on the most upto date code with the minimum of hassles wonder no more.

Use RTM+October 2008 Cumulative Update as your baseline.

You will wind up with all "S2" functionality present in Shared Services without the hassles of installing SP1 or IU.

Also, don't forget that you can create your own "slipstream" install by following this process: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc261890.aspx

Pity they haven't improved the English

It's a pity they haven't improved the appalling English of that blog post.

You'd think with all Microsoft Software Engineers and others refering to it, it would be worth having the English seen to!

It's useful stuff but a few minutes from a native English speaker would improve it beyond recognition.
