You can filter for a specific subset of users by entering a URL filter criteria on the Crawl Log page (ssp/admin/_layouts/logviewer.aspx) page in the field labeled "Find URLs that begin with the following hostname/path:". 

Unfortunately, the format of the URL you need to specify as the filter criteria is not completely obvious. After a lot of trial and error, coupled with a few hunches and a little luck I discovered that the format of the URL that you must enter is as follows:

                spsimport://<catalog Guid>/<domain>?cn=<partial or full account name>

You can discover the <catalog Guid> value by simply browsing to the Shared Services Administration: Your SSP Name > User Profile and Properties  > View Import Log link and observing the initial default value in the URL filter field.
