Edit Page Tip

Here's a handy little something that I can't believe I didn't learn about SharePoint until just this week...you can put any SharePoint page into Edit mode in the browser (assuming you have page editing permissions) very simply by just tacking on this query string parameter:

ToolPaneView=2

This even works on pages that do not normally show the "Edit Page" menu, such as the New Item page for a List, so for instance you can try this:

http://<yourservername>/<yoursitename>/Lists/<yourlistname>/NewForm.aspx?ToolPaneView=2

Once you get the page in to Edit Mode, then you can add web parts.  This can be very useful on a NewForm.aspx, for instance, where you can leverage a Content Editor web part to provide extra information to guide the user about how to fill out the form.
