I had a web application that I migrated from moss2007 but in SP2010 I had converted this web app into site collection, then, when I ran the function this update alerts and append and additional like commented previously(http://teams.com/corporate/sysmgmt/corporate/sysmgmt)
what i did was that I modified the function and added new parameter called site1 wich will replace the original site.
For example site =  http://teams.com/corporate/sysmgmt oldurl http://teamsold.com/corporate/sysmgmt/ -site1 = http://teams.com/
