SharePoint 2010 SP1 - Two Observations

I've been playing around with SharePoint 2010 SP1 for the last couple of days and have noticed two things that I thought were worthwhile sharing.

PerformancePoint Service Application now supports specifying a database name at creation time (no more GUIDs) and includes support for SQL mirroring. Here are the new parameters for New-SPPerformancePointServiceApplication in all of their glory!

One of the really cool features of SharePoint 2010 SP1 is the ability to recover a deleted Site or Site Collection, I'm really impressed by this a I'm sure that it will save SharePoint administrators hours of their valuable time. A useful overview of this functionality can be found here - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/chaks/archive/2011/06/30/sharepoint-2010-sp1-site-recycle-bin-ui-experience.aspx

One thing to point out about this (well two actually) is that if you delete a Site Collection using PowerShell, for example by running Remove-SPSite http://sp2010/sites/sitecollection the site CANNOT be recovered using the Get-SPDeletedSite/Restore-SPDeletedSite PowerShell cmdlets.

If you delete a Site (Web) using PowerShell the same is true, for example if you run the following command Remove-SPWeb http://sp2010/sites/sitecollection/site it's not possible to recover the Site using the Site Collection Recycle Bin.
